Periodic inspections are necessary because all electrical installations deteriorate; this is due to a number of factors including wear, tear, damage, overloading and other factors. Consequently legislation requires that all electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition. The recommended frequency of the inspections is dependent on the type of installation. This is usually every 5 years for commercial and industrial installations.
If problems are found with your installation these will be recorded on the electrical installation condition report (EICR).
On completion of the periodic inspection you will receive an electrical installation condition report (EICR) which will include all test results, a schedule of items inspected and any recommendations or observations noted against compliance with current standards.
If any of the observations are deemed unsafe then the EICR will be unsatisfactory. ProActive Electrical will provide a solution and a quotation to restore your installation to a safe condition.
The health and safety at work act 1974 and electricity at work regulations 1989 require precautions to be taken against the risk death or injury from electricity during work activities. This applies in all work places and includes the self employed. Periodic inspection and testing can ensure you comply with this legislation.
The purpose of a periodic inspection is to provide an engineering view on whether or not the electrical installation is in a satisfactory condition and can be used safely.
The periodic inspection and testing is carried out for
Prior to carrying out the inspection we will meet with you to outline the scope of works and extent of the installation to be inspected. We will highlight items that will require isolating and arrange the most convenient time to carry out the inspection to avoid disruption to your business. We will even work overnight to achieve this for you.
The periodic inspection comprises a detailed examination of the installation together with the appropriate tests to ensure ongoing compliance with BS 7671 IET wiring regulations.
Along with some partial dismantling we will inspect all visible electrical items including switchgear, light fittings and sockets. The inspection will include a check on the condition of electrical equipment with regard to:
We will carry out the relevant tests on all identifiable circuits to prove:
